In March of 2014, twelve participants hiked the challenging Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru to promote Compassion Canada's child sponsorship program.
Each participant sponsored a child in Peru or donated funds towards one of the Peruvian Compassion projects.
We had the amazing opportunity to visit two Compassion projects in Peru and meet the children we're personally sponsoring!
Visit the Compassion Canada website dedicated to this project and see some of the Peruvian children still waiting to be sponsored.
You can sponsor a Peruvian child for as little as $41.00 per month.
In order to acclimatize to the high altitude of the Inca Trail (up to almost 14,000 feet above sea level), we visited some other high altitude areas of Peru.
The Inca Trail is in central Peru, not far from the city of Cuzco.
We climbed and descending many Inca steps during our challenging four day hike.

Since the altitude is so high, we appreciated our porters carrying most of our supplies.
